In June 2014 the Data & Ethics Working Group was invited by the Science, Technology, Innovation Festival of Barcelona and BarcelonaLab to conduct a weekend workshop at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona ‘Big Bang Data’ exhibition. On Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th DEWG created a audio tour that ran parallel to the exhibition rather than explaining the artworks; the work was installed on Sunday the 15th of June.

The audio tour reflected DEWG’s research into the monetisation of surveillance data, using the CCCB’s systems as a means to explore surveillance in commercial spaces. The commentary was produced in Catalan, Spanish and English available via QR codes throughout the space.

DEWG is currently working on a pdf document detailing this project.
